ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
De Gea spent the entirety of last season unattached, which must have been an unusual experience for a player still only 33 years old and with more than 700 appearances for club and country to his name. But it would appear that the Spaniard's long wait to find a new home is over; he posted a cryptic message on X on Saturday afternoon that appears to suggest a deal has been agreed.

WHAT DID DE GEA POST?
The former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper posted the hourglass emoji, which can be taken to assume that an announcement is incoming.

DID YOU KNOW?
De Gea continued to train during his year out of football, vowing to "come back stronger" in an Instagram post from March.
